Establishing a wireless connection to an xCella device

The software requires USB dongle hardware to perform wireless communication. The software has limited use without the dongle.

Establishing a wireless connection to an xCella device requires 4 steps:

  1. The dongle device driver software needs to be installed in the computer. This step needs to be done only once as the dongle is plugged into the computer for the first time. See the document “xCella Software Installation Instructions” for instructions on how to install the USB dongle driver software.
  2. The dongle itself needs to be plugged into the host computer.
  3. Select the active COM port the dongle is using in the “Port Name” scroll box.

Note that there may be several active COM ports listed, but only one of those active ports is being used by the dongle. The software will indicate of the selected COM port is being used by the dongle by filling in the “Dongle Info: ID” and dongle “Description” fields.

  1. The desired xCella device ID needs to be filled into the “Target Device ID” field.

A Target Device ID must consist of 8 hexadecimal digits, which includes only the characters 0-9, a-f, and A-F.
