Industrial customers have adopted wireless controls as their primary solution for networked controls. The primary reason is that most industrial spaces are vast in square footage typical of a manufacturing or logistics center. This causes an inordinate amount of costs in running CAT5 wiring between fixtures that are commonly spaced 25-30' apart. Also, many of these environments have constant vibration and/or dust build-up which degrades the robustness of CAT5 connections. Also, it allows for a networked control system to be installed in retrofit applications without having to run additional wire into the building.
