What is the Remote Mounting Battery Guideline.

When a battery/inverter unit is going to be remote mounted the regular AC ballasts maximum lamp to ballast distance must be used to determine how far the battery/inverter can be mounted.

 

When a battery/inverter is remote mounted the ballasts maximum ballast to lamp mounting distance is cut in half.

 

Example 1: Ballast maximum ballast to lamp mounting distance is 15 feet.

15/2 = 7.5 feet. In this case, the battery/inverter cannot be mounted more than 7.5 feet from the ballast and lamp it is being wired with.

 

Example 2: If the ballasts maximum ballast to lamp mounting distance exceeds 12 feet after being cut in half, 12 twelve feet then becomes the maximum allowable distance in that case.

Ballast maximum ballast to lamp mounting distance is 30 feet.

30/2 = 15 feet, this exceeds 12 feet, so the distance is reduced to 12 feet. In this case, the battery/inverter cannot be mounted more than 12 feet from the ballast and lamp it is being wired with.

 

If the ballast maximum to lamp mounting distance is less than 12 feet when cut in half, the shorter distance must be used.

 

Keep all wire lengths in the fixture and to the remote mounted battery/inverter to the minimum length possible.
