How do you determine max voltage range for LED drivers?

Q: If a customer has voltages that range from 285v to 335v on their existing 1000w metal halide fixtures, would a 347v range driver work in such an application?

 

A: The HID ballasts would not work at that voltage (assuming wired to the 347V tap on the ballast). The 285V would work on a MVOLT ballast, but we would not recommend doing that, as it would fail if 347V got to it.  If the HID fixtures are working, and they are wired to a 347V ballast, it is possible that this is a voltage measurement issue.
