Hinged steel poles have winches available because they are hinged partway up and are heavy enough to require mechanical assistance.
Hinged aluminum poles are hinged at the base and should be light enough that they do not require assistance from a winch.
Per Peter Barrus:
STSH poles require a winch sized for the pole shaft dimension – only one winch required per pole dimension regardless of the number of poles on the site.
The STSH winch is ordered as a separate line item and are identified in the PSG and spec sheet regarding the proper nomenclature.
The STSH hinge point depends on the height of the pole – see attached.
Aluminum hinged poles have the hinge at the base and are lowered by hand – they max out at 20 foot so no winch required.
