How To Enable/Disable Occupancy Sensor Inputs On An AP Digilink?

(note: This procedure is only applicable to AP Digilink version 2.03 and newer)

A typical requirement for enabling/disabling occupancy sensors wired to an AP Digilink are as follows:

  • Occupancy Sensors are disabled during office hours.
  • Lights are turned on by the schedule, and should stay on during office hours.
  • After hours, the occupancy sensors are enabled and the ligths will only turn off if the space if it's unoccupied.
  • Lights turn on/off after hours depending on the occupancy sensor status.

Programming:
(note: please refer to the AP Switch Programming Manual for more information)

    1. No timers are needed on the relays because the occupancy sensor will turn the lights off when the space is unoccupied.
    2. Program all the ligths being controlled into a "Momentary On" Group.
    3. Program the schedule controlling the Momentary On Group to turn the ligths on during office hours. (i.e. ON 8:00am, OFF 5:00pm).
    4. Chose a spare relay to be used as the enable/disable relay and program it into a new "Maintain" Group.
    5. Program a new schedule as the enable/disable schedule to disable the occupancy sensor during office hours. (i.e. ON 8:00am, OFF 5:00pm)
    6. Note that, if enabling/disabling multiple inputs at different times is desired, multiple enable/disable relays and schedules will be needed.
    7. Navigate to the Digilink's AP (Advanced Programming) Menu.
    8. Depending on what applies, program as shown on the table below:
      Desired Enable/Disable AP Programming
      Enable/Disable All Inputs 7 ON = "Disable 1-14"
      8 ON = "Normal"
      Btn Beep: Off
      Button 1 Adderss: N
      9-14 Disables 1-6: N
      Debounce: By Button
      Only Enable/Disable inputs 1-6 7 ON = "Disable 1-6"
      8 ON = "Normal"
      Btn Beep: Off
      Button 1 Adderss: N
      9-14 Disables 1-6: N
      Debounce: By Button
      Only Enable/Disable inputs 9-14 7 ON = "Normal"
      8 ON = "Disable 9-14"
      Btn Beep: Off
      Button 1 Adderss: N
      9-14 Disables 1-6: N
      Debounce: By Button
      Enable/Disable inputs 1-6 individually
      at different times
      7 ON = "Normal"
      8 ON = "Normal"
      Btn Beep: Off
      Button 1 Adderss: N
      9-14 Disables 1-6: Y
      Debounce: By Button

  1. By Tabbing and Entering to "MORE" on the AP menu, change the "LED logic for other buttons" to "OR"
  2. Depending on which button (BTN7, BTN8, or individual BTNS 9-14) is being used to enable/disable, program the enable/disable relay onto that button and set it to ON Mode.
  3. Ensure that there are no inputs wired to input 7-14 if they are being used to enable/disable other inputs, or being used for other special AP Programming functions.

Sequence of Operation:

  1. At 8:00am, the schedule will activate the Momentary On Group and turn the ligths on.
  2. At 8:00am, the second schedule will disable the occupancy sensors and therefore not affect the lights regardless of it's occupied/unoccupied state.
  3. The schedule will not turn the lights off at 5:00pm because the group being used is a Momentary On Group.
  4. However, when the system enables the occupancy sensors, the system will send an off command (lights will turn off) if the input is open (unoccupied), and the system will send an on command (lights remain on) if the input is closed (occupied).
